TV

Just when people think it couldn't be more awkward between Damon, Elena and Stefan, "The Vampire Diaries" will be toying with the connection between Elena and Stefan once again. In the next episode, both Stefan and Elena are suddenly having unsettling dreams of an alternate version of the life they might have had together.

In her vision, it appears that Elena sees herself and Stefan as a family with a kid running around their house. Alerted to this weird situation, Damon can't help but tease Elena, "So having sex dreams about my brother?"

The Elena-Stefan things are indeed not over yet since there's a doppelganger prophecy that says Elena and Stefan are destined to be together. Executive producer Julie Plec recently said, "We dig deep into this idea of the universe drawing them together. It leads Elena and Stefan to a lot of conversations to their love story and free will."

Meanwhile, Bonnie has a disturbing encounter with Grams (guest star Jasmine Guy), who warns her about frightening changes on the Other Side. Enzo (guest star Michael Malarkey) gives Damon unwanted relationship advice, then admits he is searching for a woman he loved decades before while he was held captive by the Augustines.

Liv (guest star Penelope Mitchell) enlists Matt, Jeremy and Tyler to help track the Travelers and keep them from taking control of Mystic Falls. Bonnie is hurt and angry when she learns that Jeremy is working with Liv behind her back.

Luke (guest star Chris Brochu) shows up at the Salvatore house and explains what he knows about Markos (guest star Raffi Barsoumian) and the Travelers to Damon, Elena and Enzo. Matt has a terrifying encounter with inhabitants of the Other Side. Finally, when Damon finds Markos, he is both relieved and disturbed by what Markos has to tell him.

"The Vampire Diaries" is taking a two-week hiatus and will return with "Resident Evil" on Thursday, April 17 at 8/7c on The CW. Paul Wesley makes his directorial debut with the said episode.
