The American remake to Indonesian martial arts film "The Raid: Redemption" has found its director. The Wrap reports "The Expendables 3" director Patrick Hughes has just closed a deal with Screen Gems and XYZ Films to helm the English-language adaptation.

It's also reported that Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games") and Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") are mentioned as possible candidates for the lead roles in the film, but nothing has officially been confirmed. Production is expected to begin this fall.

Gareth Evans, who directed, wrote, and edited the original 2011 film and its sequel "The Raid 2: Berandal" which is set to arrive Stateside on March 28, will serve as an executive producer. Brad Inglesby ("Out of the Furnace") is tapped to write the script.

The remake will have the same storyline which revolves around a group of elite cops raiding an apartment complex which houses a bunch of violent thugs. According to Evans, the original film's choreographers Iko Uwais and Yayan Ruhian, who play the lead role Rama and the villain Mad Dog respectively, are wanted to help with the fight scenes in the remake.
