A small group calling themselves the "Michael Jackson Community" won a lawsuit in an Orleans court on Tuesday, February 11. Five members of the French-based Jackson fans club were awarded one euro each ($1.74) for the "emotional damage" they suffered after the King of Pop's death in 2009.

A total of 34 fans sued Jackson's doctor Conrad Murray who supplied the superstar with the powerful anesthetic propofol and was the last person to see Jackson alive. However, only five members of the community were able to prove their emotional suffering. Two fans are from France, two are from Switzerland and the other is from Belgium.

"As far as I know this is the first time in the world that the notion of emotional damage in connection with a pop star has been recognized," the fans' attorney, Emmanuel Ludot, told Agence France-Presse.
