Rumor has it, the former husband of Madonna plans to bring the Arthurian story into the big screen for six separate feature films.

Guy Ritchie is looking to develop a tentpole film franchise based on King Arthur's legendary story. According to Deadline, the "Sherlock Holmes" director plans six movies with Warner Bros.
The first installment is written by Joby Harold ("Awake"). The scribe will also be involved in the production along with Ritchie, Akiva Goldsman, Lionel Wigram, and Tory Tunnell.
It's not the first time Ritchie tried to make a new King Arthur film. Back in 2010, the British filmmaker was circling a pic penned by John Hodge ("Trainspotting") for the studio, but the project fell apart.
WB opted to go with David Dobkin's "Arthur & Lancelot", only to drop it later after the budget got too high for their liking. The project went so far as to cast Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones") and Joel Kinnaman ("RoboCop") to play the lead roles.
The studio also booked "Excalibur" which had "X-Men" director Bryan Singer attached at the helm. The project was supposed to be a remake of John Boorman's 1981 movie, but it never came to fruition.
Aside from making the Arthurian movie, Ritchie is working on "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." for WB. The film had been in development hell for years before it was picked up as a directing vehicle for the former husband of Madonna.
Based on Sam Rolfe's classic TV series of the same title, it stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer and Hugh Grant among others. No release date has been set for the high-profile film.
