NBC has committed to a seventh season of "Parks and Recreation". NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt dropped the news at the TCA winter press tour on Sunday, January 19.
Initially saying he's bullish about the returns of "Parks" and "Community", Greenblatt finally said, "I'll go out on a limb: 'Parks and Rec' will have a seventh season," when pressed further by reporters about the show's future. He added that there's "a strong possibility" that "Community" would come back for next TV season.
During the panel, Greenblatt additionally revealed the network's project for next holiday season. Following the success of "The Sound of Music Live!", the Peacock will take on another Broadway musical, "Peter Pan", for the upcoming live special.
"Get ready for flying children and some start-of-the-art technology for Tinkerbell," he gushed over the project, jokingly saying, "I want Miley Cyrus!" in the cast ensemble. Greenblatt, however, noted that the role of Peter, traditionally played by a woman, would likely go to a male actor.
Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who executive produced "The Sound of Music Live!", will return for "Peter Pan". The official cast line-up will be announced later as "they literally just started talking about it."
