NBC has moved forward with the small-screen adaptation of DC Comics' "Constantine". The network has given a pilot order to the drama series based on the character created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano.

"Batman Begins" scribe and "Da Vinci's Demons" showrunner David S. Goyer pens the script along with "The Mentalist" executive producer Daniel Cerone. The two will also serve as executive producers.

"Constantine" is based on "Hellblazer" graphic novels about John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent conman turned reluctant supernatural detective, who is thrust into the role of defending the human race against dark forces from beyond.

The network has also ordered "Mysteries of Laura" to pilot. From executive producers Jeff Rake, Greg Berlanti ("Arrow"), Melissa Berman and Aaron Kaplan, the procedural is based on the popular Spanish series "Los Misterios De Laura".

It follows a quirky female homicide detective who juggles high-stakes crimes with a pesky ex-husband and a devilish set of twin sons. Rake pens the script.
