will.i.am's manager says in a statement that the Black Eyed Peas member didn't cancel his performance at the event because he never signed on in the first place.

AceShowbiz - Recent reports suggested that will.i.am had canceled his New Year's Eve appearance in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Black Eyed Peas member has now denied the reports, saying that he never officially signed on to perform at the event.

will.i.am's manager, Polo Molina, said in a statement that the singer was offered to perform at Rio's Copacabana New Year's Eve. "will.i.am and his management [representatives] received an invitation for will.i.am to perform at a New Year's Eve event on the beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil," Molina wrote.

However, will.i.am never agreed to perform. "During discussions about the invitation, the event producer expressed an intention to televise the concert. will.i.am's management team requested certain staging elements be added for the show in order to accommodate his televised performance. These staging elements were not confirmed, so no agreement to perform was ever reached, "he continued.

He added that will.i.am "apologizes to his fans for confusion caused as the result of the unauthorized and premature external discussion of his involvement."
