Cruise's soldier character has to continually relive a fatal battle through a time loop as his death and resurrection repeat over and over again.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise is caught in a time loop as seen in the first trailer for "Edge of Tomorrow". He is a new recruit in a war against aliens, and his life ends in the battlefield. But then he finds himself waking up in the past and repeatedly returning to war.
As he passes through each time loop in an attempt to change his fate, he meets fellow soldier Rita Vrataski, played by Emily Blunt, who offers to train him. As his death and resurrection repeat time and time again, his skill as a soldier grows.
Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese novel "All You Need Is Kill", the sci-fi film is scheduled to make its way out in the United States on June 6, 2014. Coming from "The Bourne Identity" and "Mr and Mrs Smith" director Doug Liman, it is supported by Jeremy Piven, Lara Pulver and Marianne Jean-Baptiste among others.
