In another sketch, the 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' star pitches himself as a sixth member of the British/Irish boyband.

AceShowbiz - Paul Rudd and One Direction team up to promote the upcoming edition of "Saturday Night Live" by appearing in a new promo. The actor opens it by claiming that he used to be in the popular boyband, but was "unceremoniously asked" to leave.

In the next skit, Rudd shows off his vocal range in an attempt to convince the boys to let him join the group. He later confidently says that people may think he's part of the group due to his looks but Niall Horan frankly tells him, "Really?! Eventhough you're a lot older than us?"

In a previously released promo video, Rudd goes fangirl as he learns that One Direction is in the same building with him. "Wait. The band? The band with the hot British guys? Niall, Harry, Louis, Zayn and Liam?" he asks "SNL" regular Vanessa Bayer, before screaming into a pillow and yelling, "Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god..."

Rudd is going to host the variety show for the third time on Saturday, December 7 at 11:30/10:30c on NBC. One Direction serves as the musical guest.
