Video: Dax Shepard Says His Wedding With Kristen Bell Only Cost Him $142

The 'Parenthood' actor jokingly tells Jimmy Kimmel that the host's expensive wedding inspired him to go in the opposite direction.

AceShowbiz - Dax Shepard broke silence on his courthouse wedding with Kristen Bell when dropping by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" recently. The "Parenthood" star jokingly said that he kept the budget low after witnessing the host's extravagant star-studded nuptials with Molly McNearney over the summer.

"I'm a frugal person. Your wedding, when I was there, there were helicopters overhead. It felt like an episode of M*A*S*H," the actor joked. "Not that I was counting your money, but I was counting your money at this thing, because it was flying out the windows. I mean, they were setting it on fire at the place!"

"I made a mental note when I watched that. I thought, 'I'm going to go a different way.' So we went to the Beverly Hills courthouse, and all in, with fuel to get there, $142 out the door," he continued. "I don't yet have a ring." He teased Jimmy Kimmel again as saying, "I am going to follow your course, because you got your ring at Costco."

The day when Shepard and Bell married, though, it was they who got teased by their pals. "Friends of ours came to the courthouse, and it was just Kristen and I at this lonely courthouse, so they brought us this cake afterwards. 'The World's Worst Wedding' [written on it]," he said as picture of the cake was shown to the camera. "How many people can say they threw 'The World's Worst Wedding'?"

In a separate occasion, Bell gushed, "It's slightly more exciting, like it feels like we just had a holiday or something, but not much has changed. But we've been waiting for a long time, and for very specific reasons, and it was small and private and everything that we wanted."

When asked if she planned to celebrate with a big party, the actress said at the New York City press junket for her new animated film "Frozen (2013)" that their friends and family "can throw a big party if they want, but I have no desire to. I'm happy."
