Jamar Rogers, former contestant of NBC's "The Voice", is currently in critical condition. The singer, who competed in season 2 of the show, went to an L.A. hospital on September 3 following a show at EastWest Studios in Hollywood.
According to a statement posted on Rogers' website, the singer was diagnosed with lung infection. He spent a few days in the hospital, but his condition got worse on Monday, September 9.
Rogers' mother Danielle has been with her son during the hospital stay. She "urges for all to send in their love and prayers." Rogers' mentor on "The Voice", Cee-Lo, also prays for his "smooth and quick" recovery.
A representative for Rogers shares more positive statement to ABC News, saying that the 31-year-old singer is in "high spirit." The representative adds that Rogers has his own room at the UCLA Medical Center, where he is expected to stay one or two more weeks.
Rogers, who was diagnosed with HIV in 2006, became a finalist on the singing competition. He recently signed with Tommy Boy Entertainment. He has finished filming music video for his latest single "Drink of You". The single is set to be released on October 8 and the video will be unveiled two weeks later.
