The pop star burns her signature blue wig in the teaser clip for her new album's upcoming first single.

After song co-writer Dr. Luke first hinted in a tweet last week about "Roar" being the first cut off her forthcoming new album "Prism", Katy Perry confirms it by dropping a 30-second teaser clip. Contrary to the August 26 release date initially announced, her much-anticipated new single will finally be heard on August 12, as the clip itself reveals.

Longtime fans of the "Firework" singer, who love her for her colorful costumes and playful personality, might get a little disoriented when they see her dressed in a dark ensemble staring blankly into the camera. Then in a gesture that speaks volumes about the new direction she's taking on her third album, Perry sets her famous blue wig on fire which she wore during her "Teenage Dream" days, which apparently had a name as the 28-year-old artist revealed in a tweet earlier today, saying, "WE DON'T NEED NO WATER LET THE BABY BLUE BURN."

"Roar" is another potential chart-topper coming from the creative team composed of record producer Dr. Luke, Bonnie McKee and Max Martin. Perry is expected to perform the song as well as other tracks from her new album when she appears at the iHeartRadio Music Festival next month.

"Prism", Perry's third studio album, will hit stores October 22. The album's title was announced via a giant gold truck that drove around L.A. earlier this week and is currently traveling around the country.
