TV

Urging human citizens to buy guns and wooden bullets to protect themselves, the Louisiana Governor says, 'We have to take our streets back.'

AceShowbiz - Governor Truman Burrell declares a war in a new promo video for "True Blood" season 6. The new character gets the spotlight in the trailer as he delivers his speech, the footage of which is mixed with scenes teasing the hunt for and torture on vampires.

"When humans can no longer walk on these streets at night without fearing for their lives, then we have to take our streets back," he declares. Closing down vampire-run businesses, he also urges people to arm themselves with guns and wooden bullets to protect themselves against the bloodsuckers.

Arliss Howard plays the Louisiana Governor, whom executive producer Brian Buckner says "starts wreaking havoc in the premiere." He explains, "He's got short-range goals, long-range goals, and ulterior motives for every single of them... Even while he's doing unimaginable things, he thinks he's doing good. That's what's so scarry about Burrell."

Amelia Rose Blaire is also added to the cast to portray the governor's daughter, Willa Burrell, who has an oppositve view on vampires from her father. Other new characters introduced in the coming season include super old faerie Niall Brigant (Ruther Hauer), vampire-rights activist Nicole Wright (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and "moderately powerful" faerie Ben Flynn (Robert Kazinsky), who has a spark with Sookie "literally and figuratively."

"True Blood" 10-episode sixth season will premiere Sunday, June 16 at 9 P.M. on HBO. The first episode is directed by Stephen Moyer, who takes on the role of Bill Compton on the hit series.
