Movie

Will trusts his only son to embark on a dangerous journey alone to retrieve a beacon in the snippet for M. Night Shyamalan's sci-fi.

The first clip for M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming flick "After Earth" via Clevver.com teases the hardest decision Will Smith has to make in life. Will sends his son Jaden Smith out into wilderness to retrieve a beacon, their means for survival. Carrying a big burden on his shoulders, the boy looks all pale as he says, "I have to retrieve the beacon or we're going to die."

Previously going by the name of "1000 A.E.", the sci-fi pic is set 1.000 years into the future. It revolves around a young boy named Kitai who navigates an abandoned and sometimes scary Earth to save himself and his estranged father Cypher after their ship crashes.

Penned by Gary Whitta and Shyamalan, the adventure film from Sony Pictures features Will and Jaden as Cypher Raige and Kitai. The film marks the second time the real-life father and son play together after previously starring in 2006's "The Pursuit of Happyness".

Zoe Kravitz, Sophie Okonedo, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Sacha Dhawan are also on board the pic to take supporting roles.

Previously set for a June 7 release, the film is now scheduled to arrive in theaters across the nation a week earlier on May 31.
