A month to go before "Boardwalk Empire" returns with its new season, HBO releases some sneak peeks at the show including the first photos from the third installment. Ruthless gangster Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale), who will challenge Nucky (Steve Buscemi) for control of the bootleg business, gets the spotlight in one of the pictures.
Nucky himself is featured in another image alongside his wife Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) as they walk arm in arm at what looks like a party. Richard Harrow (Jack Huston) seemingly helps take care of Jimmy's son Tommy as seen in one other photo. Other familiar faces seen in the new images are Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) and Albert "Chalky" White (Michael K. Williams).
"Boardwalk Empire" season 3 will kick off Sunday, September 16 at 9 P.M. ET/PT on HBO. The story will jump to 1923. Recently-released promo hints that Nucky commits to being a "full gangster."
