AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures has revealed an official first look at Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in "Cloud Atlas". Making its way out onto the web via Entertainment Weekly, the still shows the two Oscar winners in their full costumes. Hanks sports a bearded and dirty face under his hoodie, while Berry rocks tribal accessories on her head.

In addition to Hanks and Berry's image, EW publishes a first look at Jim Broadbent and Ben Whishaw. Sitting side by side, Broadbent and Whishaw are pictured examining a stack of papers on a desk. The former dons a colorful robe, while the latter wears a crumpled shirt paired with a suspender.

An adaptation of David Mitchell's 2004 novel, "Cloud Atlas" follows the stories of several different characters. They are a reluctant voyager who crosses the Pacific in 1850, a disinherited composer blagging a precarious livelihood in between-the-wars Belgium, a high-minded journalist in Governor Reagan's California, a vanity publisher fleeing his gangland creditors, a genetically modified "dinery server" on death-row, and a young Pacific Islander witnessing the nightfall of science and civilization.

What's interesting from the movie is that each actor portrays multiple roles in this kaleidoscopic tale. Explaining the complicated storyline of the upcoming film, screenwriter Lana Wachowski says, "We thought about these individual characters as aspects of larger characters. Their lives are interwoven over one big story that takes place over a thousand years."

Slated for an October 26 release in the U.S., "Cloud Atlas" is directed by Tom Tykwer as well as Lana and Andy Wachowski. Aside from the stills published by EW, a host of new images that show various scenes from the movie have been made available for viewing pleasure.
