TV

Nominated for twenty three categories, the only daytime drama left on ABC won its eleventh Outstanding Drama Series.

AceShowbiz - The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards saw "General Hospital" as big winner with five trophies including the coveted Outstanding Drama Series, a category which the show has won eleven times. The event also saw "GH" star Anthony Geary winning his record seventh award.

"Thank you so much. Wow!" Geary said upon receiving Best Actor in a Drama. He later joked, "It's a good way for 'GH' to start. We have 23 nominations, which is pretty amazing since we were almost canceled in favor of a surefire ratings bonanza 'Celebrity Boob Jobs Gone Wrong,' I think it was." "GH" is the last daytime drama on ABC after "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" were canceled.

Also winning from "GH" are Jonathan Jackson for Best Supporting Actor, Nancy Lee Grahn for Best Supporting Actress and the directors for the Best Directing Team category.

Earning the Best Actress in a Drama is Heather Tom from "The Bold and the Beautiful". The pregnant actress said jokingly while rubbing her belly, "My baby is going crazy right now. Thank you to everyone in this room. I am so grateful to call you my friends and my colleagues. I am so proud to be part of the 'Daytime' community."

The awards were handed out on Saturday, June 23 and broadcast live from the Los Angeles Beverly Hilton on HLN.
