The 22-year-old actor personally worked with jeweler Neil Lane to create the perfect diamond ring that has contemporary but vintage aesthetics.

AceShowbiz - Former Disney starlet Miley Cyrus is engaged to her boyfriend of three years, Liam Hemsworth. "I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," Cyrus told People.
Hemsworth met Cyrus for the first time as co-stars of "The Last Song" in 2009. They began dating immediately after that and went through on and off relationship. The 22-year-old actor finally proposed to Cyrus on Wednesday, May 31 with a vintage but contemporary Neil Lane diamond ring.
The celebrity jeweler told People that Hemsworth decided to create "something unusual" to propose to his 19-year-old girlfriend. "Something really beautiful and romantic," said Lane, who then made a 3.5 carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. "It's a contemporary design based on vintage aesthetics. The light flashes and sparkles no matter where Miley moves her hand," Lane dished out.
What's special about the ring is the center stone. "It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it's unique and in its original form," Lane said. "At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it's fascinating to look at because it hasn't been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic."
Lane said Hemsworth was on hand to create the ring and he was pleased with the final result.
