The Jenko of '21 Jump Street' is in advanced talks with Sony Pictures to join the Roland Emmerich-directed action film project.

Channing Tatum is close to get back to his action roots. The "Dear John" actor is in advanced negotiation to join Roland Emmerich's upcoming high-octane flick "White House Down", Variety reported.
Described as " 'Die Hard' in the White House", the forthcoming film project revolves around a secret agent who is in charge to save the president when 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is occupied by paramilitary group. Tatum is expected to tackle the part of the single father agent.
"White House Down" is skedded to kick off its principal photography in late summer. Sony Pictures, which has been fast tracking the film since it paid $3 million to obtain the spec last March, has yet to comment on Tatum's casting. The studio is currently looking for the right actors to star as the president and the head of the Secret Service.
Tatum recently scored success with romantic drama "The Vow" and action comedy "21 Jump Street". He will next be seen in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation", "Magic Mike" and "The Bitter Pill".
