The network reportedly did not give the ten-year-old show a pick-up because its production is more expensive than its spin-off.

AceShowbiz - Although long-running and part of a huge TV franchise, "CSI: Miami" does not survive another season. CBS has pulled the plug on the "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" spin-off to accommodate other shows including its younger sister, "CSI: NY".

"We thank all the producers - led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue - and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of 'CSI: Miami' in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come."
"CSI: Miami" wrapped up its final season with 8 million total viewers and a 1.7 rating in the key demo. With new scripted series coming their way, CBS reportedly had to choose "CSI: NY" over "CSI: Miami" because it has cheaper production cost.
Joining "CSI: Miami" in the cancellation bucket are freshmen "iRob!", "A Gifted Man", and "Unforgettable". Fate is yet to be determined about veteran comedy "Rules of Engagement". Meanwhile, The Eye has picked up new dramas "Elementary", "Vegas", "Made in New Jersey", "Golden Boy"; comedies "Friend Me" and "Partners"; as well as reality show "The Job".
