Rihanna may not appear in any of the "Saturday Night Live" sketch this weekend but she reached a theatrical stage in a sense. The 24-year-old singer performed her latest hit "Where Have You Been" on one of the most elaborate sets for a performer this season.

Rihanna brought her army which includes ten dancers and drummers. The stage was set up to Arabian theme and used human as props. Like in the music video, which was released last week, Rihanna showed off an impressive footwork during the dance segment.

The performance of "Where Have You Been" was precedented by a medley of "Birthday Cake" and "Talk That Talk". In the former, she was supposed to be assisted by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown but she did it as solo. Clad in hot pants and knee-high boots, Rihanna told the crowd, " 'SNL,' put your hands together like this."

A few days before the episode, executive producer Lorne Michaels told reporters that he was working on incorporating Rihanna into one of the sketches. However, Rihanna who appeared in digital short "Shy Ronnie" the last time she was a musical guest, failed to pop up in any of this episode's skits.
