Speaking of the CD, Lambert once said it's "an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It's been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I've experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality."

As a prelude for the album, the season 8 runner-up of "American Idol" released a bundle of remixes for his lead single "Better Than I Know Myself". One of the reworked versions was made by Dave Aude, another was a work by Alex Ghenea, and the other one was "Robert Marvin & Shearer dubstep masterpiece."
