"The Host (2013)" has officially released its first teaser trailer. Narrated by Saoirse Ronan's Melanie Stryder, the sneak peek doesn't reveal too much, but puts its focus on the description of a futuristic world where people of various ages and races sport the same blue circle around their pupil that marks the invasion of alien race called the Souls.

Based on a novel by "Twilight Saga" author Stephenie Meyer, this thriller revolves around Melanie's life as one of the last humans who puts up a fight against the Souls. Those parasites invade human bodies, taking over their consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. Melanie herself is implanted by one of the Souls called Wanderer.

While Wanderer tries to get Melanie give up her remaining pockets of humans, the heroine grows a strong unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Overwhelmed by her memories and feelings, the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life.

Tackling the double-duty as director and writer for "The Host" is Andrew Niccol. Joining Saoirse in the casting department are Max Irons as Jared Howe, Jake Abel as Ian O'Shea, Diane Kruger as The Seeker, and Frances Fisher as Maggie Stryder. The novel-adapted movie itself is due to arrive in cinemas across the U.S. on March 29, 2013.
