AceShowbiz - After Cirque du Soleil delivered a spectacular "Iris" theme performance, more golden statuettes were handed over to other acclaimed movies at the 2012 Academy Awards. "Rango" successfully picked up the Best Animated Feature Film gong from presenter Chris Rock, while "Undefeated" received the Best Documentary Feature award from Robert Downey Jr..

"Hugo", on the other hand, continued to dominate the awards show as it grabbed its fifth Oscar. After winning Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing, as well as Best Cinematography and Art Direction awards, the Martin Scorsese-directed adventure movie nabbed the Best Visual Effects kudo.

Emma Stone and Ben Stiller handed out the Best Visual Effects award for Rob Legato and co. "Hugo" has knocked down such rivals as "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", "Real Steel", "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II".

The ongoing Academy Awards, which is held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood & Highland Center, will announce more winners soon. Billy Crystal serves as the host for the ninth time. The prestigious show is live televised by the ABC Television Network.
