Naomi Watts Replaces Jessica Chastain as Princess Diana
Movie

Watts has committed herself to 'Caught in Flight', a biopic about the people's princess' affair with a heart surgeon.

Naomi Watts has been cast as the late Princess Diana in an upcoming new biopic titled "Caught in Flight". Back in November last year, it was announced that "Take Shelter" actress Jessica Chastain had locked the royal role but apparently something came up and a native British actress is hired instead.

"It is such an honor to be able to play this iconic role," Watts said in a statement. "Princess Diana was loved across the world and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."

Directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and written by Stephen Jeffreys, the film will revolve around Diana's real-life secret affair with heart surgeon, Dr. Hasnat Kahn, "who was said to be the love of her life." Diana allegedly was visiting a friend who was recovering from a heart surgery when she met him. Their two-year affair began in 1995 and was only revealed in 2008 when he finally spoke of it to The Telegraph.

Diana rebounded with billionaire Dodi Al-Fayed but it is yet clear whether the film will conclude with their fatal car crash in Paris.
