Now that the fourth season of "Glee" is on the horizon, the second season of "The Glee Project" is officially on the go. Oxygen announced that it has renewed the reality competition show for summer premiere with additional number of contenders, new themes and all new music.

The network actually began casting for the second season in September 2011 but it was halted because the mothership was not yet given a renewal. It would be a problem because winner of the competition should get a guest role on "Glee" as the prize. However, FOX's entertainment president Kevin Reilly recently talked about the new season although a formal pick up is yet to get an announcement.

The second season of "Glee Project" will once again feature Ryan Murphy and Dante Di Lorento as executive producers. Instead of 12 contestants, the new season picked 14 finalists to compete. "The Glee Project is a special show that has tapped into a desire in our culture to watch people go for and achieve their dreams," Oxygen President Jason Klarman said.
