Steven Tyler has given update on Aerosmith's upcoming studio album. "All of it's been written," said the male judge of "American Idol" during a press conference for the singing competition at the recent Television Critics Association.

So, what holds the band from finishing the long overdue album? "I gotta lay lyrics on it and I haven't had a lot of time," explained the frontman who will return to the judging panel on the next season of the "Idol". He quickly added, "But what I've listened to so far just knocked me out."

Teasing about the sound they are crafting, he gushed, "I know a good song, I know what's gonna get played on the radio, I'm not that pretentious to say I think we've got hits, but I think we've got something, and that's all that matters."

Steven Tyler will continue to do promo appearances by visiting "The Ellen Degeneres Show" for an episode which airs January 17. "I love Aerosmith!" Ellen DeGeneres said of her upcoming guest. "My momma used to sing me to sleep every night, she would sing 'Livin' on the Edge' and I would just conk right out."

Additionally, he will be joined by bandmate Joe Perry when coming to "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" with fellow "Idol" judge Randy Jackson for an outing which broadcasts January 20. Confirming the gig was Joe himself who tweeted, "You Bet", when one of his followers asked about the rumor.
