The 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards has handed out one of its trophies to Kate Winslet. The Oscar-winning actress got Outstanding Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her role on "Mildred Pierce", humbly saying, "This just means such a lot to me," in her acceptance speech.
Earlier at the event, her co-star Guy Pearce has bagged an award for his supporting role on the adaptation of James M. Cain's classic noir novel. The Outstanding Lead Actor, meanwhile, went to Barry Pepper for his portrayal of Bobby Kennedy in miniseries "The Kennedys".
In terms of number, "Downton Abbey" currently led in Miniseries or TV Movie categories with three gongs. The British miniseries helped Maggie Smith take home the Outstanding Supporting Actress kudo, which was presented by "Entourage" cast, in addition to winning best writer and director awards.
The coveted Outstanding Drama, Comedy and Movie/Miniseries will be announced shortly at the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards. The show is aired live by FOX from Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles with Jane Lynch serving as the host.
