Getting warm reception at box office last year, "The Last Exorcism" is going to get a sequel treatment. Producers of the horror movie have hired Damien Chazelle to write a script for the follow-up project that is scheduled to kick off principal photography this fall with Studio Canal financing, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

Chazelle made his debut feature with "Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench" which was premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. The Harvard grad also wrote "The Claim" which was mentioned in 2010 Black List and picked up by Route One last October.

"Last Exorcism" itself stars Patrick Fabian as Reverend Cotton Marcus who allows a film crew to follow him as he decides to take on one last exorcism. Told in faux documentary style, the 2010 summer movie grossed $62.5 million worldwide on a budget of $1.6 million. Andrew Gurland and Huck Botko wrote the script.
