Paul McDonald apparently needs his grandmother to realize about the extend of his newfound fame. In a recent interview, the "American Idol" outcast admitted to MTV News he was surprised that even his grandmother knows he is currently in a relationship with "Twilight Saga" actress Nikki Reed.

The 26-year-old musician made the revelation when opening up that he'll probably never get used to the media interest surrounding his personal life. "I mean, you can't really get used to that, you know? It's funny how, like, your personal life becomes such a crazy new thing. I guess I kind of realized it when I talked to my grandma on the phone," he said.

Paul continued to recall their conversation, "She was like, 'Who's this new girl you're dating?' And I'm like, 'How do you know about this, Grandma?' And she's like, 'I got a magazine at the grocery store!' I was like 'Oh gosh, it's started.' " He added, "I haven't really gotten used to that ... you can't really get used to that stuff."

When speaking of his actress girlfriend in another interview, Paul confessed to have not watched the "Twilight Saga" series. "Honestly, I haven't seen any of her movies and know nothing, really, about her work," he said during a radio interview on KOST 103.5 FM's morning show. Still, he added, "She's super cool, man. I think she likes me more because I've never seen any of her stuff."
