Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Adrien Brody Circling Lead Role in 'Fantastic Four' Reboot

While the two actors are said in the running to be Mr. Fantastic, Alice Eve and Amber Heard are reportedly competing for the role of Sue Storm.

AceShowbiz - As 20th Century Fox plans to remake "Fantastic Four", the studio is looking for a man to step into the shoes of Ioan Gruffudd who portrays Reed Richards in the 2008 movie and its sequel. According to Screen Rant, Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Adrien Brody are currently the contenders to take that part.

Beside Meyers and Brody, Alice Eve and Amber Heard have been rumored to join the cast for the untitled new Fantastic Four project. The two young female stars are said vying the role of Sue Storm and whoever chosen will play the love interest of team leader Mr. Fantastic aka Richards.

The next "Fantastic Four" movie, which is planned to serve as a reboot for the film series, was previously called "Fantastic Four Reborn". However, the latest report by Screen Rant mentioned the "Reborn" title has been changed but the new name has not been known yet. This upcoming superhero action will be produced by Akiva Goldsman and is tentatively targeted for 2012 release.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, who portrayed King Henry VIII in TV series "The Tudors", was last seen in "From Paris with Love" in which he co-starred John Travolta. Meanwhile, Adrien Brody has just appeared in "Predators". The 37-year-old actor, who is still in production for "Midnight in Paris", grabbed Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role after starring in Roman Polanski's "The Pianist".

As for Alice Eve, she recently landed a female lead role in "She's Out of My League". She is additionally rumored to take a minor villainous role in "The Avengers". Amber Heard, in the meantime, will next be seen starring opposite Johnny Depp in "The Rum Diary" and Nicolas Cage in "Drive Angry".
