"The Expendables" cast fought hard on the set and they get an equal payback. The movie still sits atop North American Box Office on its second weekend with an additional $17 million. Though it drops around 51.3|percent| from last week's gross, the hard-hitting action flick still manages to block newcomer "Vampires Suck" from topping the chart.
Betraying its title, the comedy parodying scenes from "Twilight" films is not that suck at box office since it becomes runner-up on its debut weekend. The spoof-fest rakes in $12.2 million on its debut weekend after obtaining $4 million from its Wednesday, August 18 opening.
"We are happy, happy, happy," Fox senior vp says about the performance of "Vampires Suck" as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter. "The five-day number includes a great opening-day number of $4 million from Wednesday. So that took something away from the weekend, but the weekend was still terrific."
Following "Vampires Suck" closely is "Eat, Pray, Love" which sits on the third place. The drama starring Julia Roberts pulls in $12.1 million. "Lottery Ticket" debuts on number four with $10.6 million, while "The Other Guys" rounds up the top five with an additional $10.2 million revenue.
