Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva's split turns out to be a nasty one. A new report suggested that the 51-year-old actor knocked Oksana's teeth out during their past bust-up, long before they filed for restraining orders against each other.

The story was first run by TMZ which reported Mel punched Oksana during their January 6 confrontation. A source close to Oksana told the site that Mel's people were lying when they say Oksana shook their illegitimate six-month-old daughter, Lucia.

The source explained, "She tried to protect the baby during one of Gibson's violent episodes when he punched Oksana in the face two times, breaking her teeth and giving her a concussion." On why Mel's people lied, the source mentioned, "Mel and his camp are spinning the facts in a desperate attempt to protect his reputation."

The source went on to add, "She tried to protect his reputation, depsite her fears of him and his verbal and physical abuse. She regrets having believed in his empty promises to obtain professional help to control his violent nature." On the other hand, sources close to Mel said that the actor never became violent with Oksana.

Oksana's attorneys, additionally, refused to give any comment on the report. However, the lawyers explained, "The true facts will be brought out in a court of law. Oksana will continue to abide by the ethical obligations and rules arising from a confidential paternity action and will let the court decide the issue in this matter."

Mel Gibson filed restraining order against Oksana Grigorieva with complaint reportedly concerning three main issues and his access to Lucia. Meanwhile, Oksana entered the plea because she fears for the safety of her daughter.
