'Artists be too scared to stand up for something,' the Kid Cudi's mentor said. '... They scared to lose their record deal.'

Kanye West recently made a surprise appearance on one of Kid Cudi's concerts. He then rapped verses which apparently addressed his absence from the spotlight following 2009 MTV Video Music Awards which saw him interrupting Taylor Swift's Best Female Video acceptance speech.

"I had to get up out this motherf***er for a second," Kanye began. "I love the game so much and I'm so passionate about it that I just can't take this s*** sometimes. And if they take everything away from me it wouldn't f***ing matter."

"Artists be too concerned about their well-being sometimes. Artists be too scared to stand up for something. They scared to lose they f***ing house or they scared to lose their record deal. I sold my soul to the devil, I know it's a crappy deal. At least it came with a few toys like a Happy Meal."

Despite the VMAs incident, Kanye West has been named one of Billboard's Top 20 Artists of the Year. His debut album "The College Dropout" was also listed by Entertainment Weekly as one of the 10 best albums of the decade, an honor which he humbly received.

"This is really flattering...," he wrote on his blog. "I've had some ups and downs this year, well actually this decade. just seeing this cover takes me back to that time of my life. i remember how much pain and love went into this album."
