Irina Shabeyeva Wins 'Project Runway' Season 6

The designer who was denied an immediate public announcement of her victory won through her fierce designs that Heidi Klum would want herself.

AceShowbiz - Irina Shabeyeva, a 27-year-old designer, has won "Project Runway" season 6. The finale airing on Thursday, November 19 finally revealed the winner who has actually been crowned since February this year. The show was in the middle of the broadcasting right battle between Bravo TV and Lifetime late last year.

Irina won over Carol Hannah and Althea after her final designs that opt a warrior woman concept impressed the judges. Michael Kors said while the concept was not exactly original, the result turned up admirable. Heidi Klum added that she would want to own Irina's collection.

Irina is one of the foreigners participating in the show. She comes from Republic of Georgia but resides in New York. According to mentor Tim Gunn, Irina has the perfect sense of proportion. "Her models look as if they've been in for a dozen fittings," he gushed, "and they haven't."

As the winner, Irina is entitled to an editorial feature in an issue of Marie Claire magazine, a cash prize of $100,000 to start her own line, and an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Paris.

Meanwhile, coming out as the winner of the models competition is Kalyn Hemphill. The New Yorker receives a $25,000 cash prize from L'Oreal and can take part in Irina's fashion spread in Marie Claire.

In the finale episode, it is revealed that the seventh season will premiere on January 14, 2010 on Lifetime.
