There is no reconciliation for Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri despite rumors to the contrary. In a new radio interview with Atlanta's The Bert Show the R 'n' B singer affirms that she and the rapper have broken up, but remain good friends.

"I'm not the type of girl that stays in touch with your ex like that," says Janet. "Jermaine is one of my best friends. I love him to death. We're still connected. We're still good friends. We still talk." And she is quick to add, "We're there for one another. I think it will remain that way for the rest of my life."

Janet Jackson had been dating Jermaine Dupri for almost seven years when it was reported in July that the pair called it quits. Us Weekly ran an exclusive story on the matter and cited Jermaine's friends as stating, "it's over".

Another source concurred, "They have been moving in different directions for a while." A mutual friend of Janet and Jermaine chimed in, "You shouldn't mix business with pleasure. Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things separate," adding "Jermaine likes to be out there, mingling with everybody, and Janet's more shy."
