'Thor' Finds Shooting Location, Begins Filming in January

In the middle of January, the cast members and crew for 'Thor' will start the principal photography in Los Angeles before they move to Santa Fe in New Mexico.

AceShowbiz - After the president of production for Marvel Studio, Kevin Feige, claimed "Thor" will start filming in early 2010, Production Weekly has obtained new details about the production schedule of the movie. On Friday, November 13, the site reported that the filmmakers have chosen some places as the shooting location.

Beginning in the middle of January next year, the principal photography reportedly will take place in Los Angeles. Later, in March, the crew and the cast members for the superhero movie will move to Santa Fe in New Mexico to continue the shooting until late April.

"Thor" is an epic adventure that spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. It will revolve around Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As the punishment, he is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans. He later learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

The titular character will be portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, while his nemesis will be played by Tom Hiddleston. Both of them will share screen with Natalie Portman who has been cast to play Jane Foster, a former nurse as well as Thor's first love. Most recently, Anthony Hopkins was reported landing a role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed film to star as Odin, the father of Thor. Paramount Pictures eyes a May 20, 2011 release date for the movie.
