'On the surface, he is very charming and very warm, sort of likable and soft,' the actor who plays the Volturi leader in 'The Twilight Saga's New Moon' spoils on his character.

AceShowbiz - "Twilight Saga" fans will get to see Aro come to life in actor Michael Sheen when "The Twilight Saga's New Moon" opens wide in November. In anticipation to the theatrical release, the 40-year-old actor who is no stranger to the supernatural genre movie has made time to talk about his vampire character to USA Today.

"I suppose the Volturi are like the royal family of vampires, and while he is more their spokesperson in the books, he is their leader in the film," Sheen said of Aro. "He's got a sort of regality about him." He then went on, "I like the way director Chris Weitz describes him. On the surface, he is very charming and very warm, sort of likable and soft. But underneath, you get the sense he is a psychopathic killer. I love playing with that idea."

Asked what made him take the role, the actor who portrays Lucian in the "Underworld" series joked, "I wanted to see how the other half lived. Or unlived." On the serious side, he revealed that his 10-year-old daughter played a part. "She is very, very into the books," he shared. "I know how obsessive she was about them, so I was already predisposed wanting to be in it."

"The Twilight Saga's New Moon" is penned by "Twilight Saga" screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and has "The Golden Compass" helmer in the directing seat. It centers on the personal conflict Bella experiences following Edward Cullen's abrupt departure. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner star. The three leading actors are joined by many of the original cast members, including Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone and Nikki Reed. Dakota Fanning and Noot Seear are among the new additions to the cast. "New Moon" targets a U.S. release on November 20.
