Counting down to the theatrical release of "Whip It!", Fox unleashed profile featurettes for the roller derby comedy drama. One of the on-set videos centers the attention on Jimmy Fallon. Coming from Yahoo! Movies, it features the comedian talking about his "sleazy MC" character Hot Tub Johnny, working with Drew Barrymore and what the movie has to offer.
In addition to this Fallon featurette, two other profile featurettes are also found. One from Yahoo! highlights on Ellen Page as she describes how her character, Bliss, finds herself when she joins a roller derby team. The other one from MySpace takes the focus on Alia Shawkat and how her character takes part in the movie.
An adaptation film based on Shauna Cross' novel "Derby Girl", this movie follows 17-year-old Bliss who has no clue where her life is going. She is groomed for local beauty pageants by ambitious and haughty mother. All of that change when she discovers an underworld roller derby league. Impressed by what she is seeing, the misfit girl then tries out to join a team named the Hurl Scouts under the name of Babe Ruthless and finds her true self along the way.
Drew Barrymore directs as well as stars as Smashley Simpson. Ellen Page leads and is supported by a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Zoe Bell, Juliette Lewis and Marcia Gay Harden. It will roll its way into theaters across the U.S. this Friday, October 2.
