AceShowbiz - Celebrity disc jockey DJ AM was found dead at his New York City apartment on Friday afternoon, August 28. He was 36.

In a statement released to the press later that day, a representative for the late star confirmed, "Adam 'DJ AM' Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment." The representative went on stating, "The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time."

At the time of writing, cause of death hasn't been released just yet by the medical examiner. Though so, a police source has confirmed prescription drugs were found in the apartment and there was no apparent evidence of foul play.

Weekly publication People, in the meantime, quotes Det. Brian Sessa as detailing that "at 5:20 P.M. on Friday New York Police Department officers entered an apartment on Lafayette Street in response to a 911 call about a man who hadn't been seen for two days." Inside, they found the body of a white male in his 30s. Another police source confirmed the dead man was DJ AM.

DJ AM is considered as a sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity and had high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle. He previously dated actress-singer Mandy Moore. Back in September 2008, DJ AM narrowly escaped death in jet crash with drummer Travis Barker.
