While holding a 3-D panel at 2009 Comic Con, Walt Disney Pictures has announced that "Tron 2.0" has been retitled "Tron Legacy". During the presentation, the film's star Jeff Bridges claimed the new title is in reference to the story's theme. Still, he refused to explain in details and stated only, "It's basically a story about a son's search for his father."

During the panel, the mouse house screened a 2-D footage taken from the movie. The footage, which is a key scene to be seen in the beginning of the movie, showed Sam Flynn entering the dilapidated Flynn's Arcade. Making his way through the arcade, he finds an entrance in the wall behind the arcade game and walks into it.

On the occasion, Disney also presented the 3-D footage which was shown at last year's Comic Con. In addition to those footage, the studio also brought some concept images from the production to the panel. Among the concept art that were shown are solar sailer, a freight train in the world of Tron that travels on a beam of light, and few new vehicles such as Light Runner, The Light Cycle and Second Generation Light Cycle. All of the concept art photos can be seen via Slash Film.

Although they still have not had any new 3-D footage to share, "Torn Legacy" director Joseph Kosinski promised there would be plenty new things to offer at next year's Comic Con. "We've probably got three or four things in this movie that have never been done before, and we're doing them all at the same time," he stated. "I promise you that next year at Comic-Con you'll see some things you haven't seen before."

Jeff Bridges who played in the original film will make a return to "Tron Legacy", which will be released in 2010, to reprise his role as Kevin Flynn. This "Tron" sequel will also feature Garrett Hedlund as the lead character Sam and Olivia Wilde as the "loyal confidant" to Kevin Flynn. The movie's plot centers on Sam Flynn, portrayed by Hedlund, who looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years.
