Movie

'Transformers 2' has made a record by earning 16 million U.S. dollars from ticket sales on its debut night on Wednesday, June 24.

AceShowbiz - "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" has proven that it still becomes a highly-anticipated movie for spectators. On its Wednesday, June 24, midnight screenings, the flick earned $16 million. The number thus makes the "Transformers" sequel the third-best midnight debut ever in the box-office figure, behind "The Dark Knight" which scored $18 million for its midnight run last summer and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" which made $16.9 million on its 2005 premiere.

With the big amount made on the midnight debut, "Transformers 2" is predicted to be able to pull around 150 million U.S. dollars over its first five days on the theaters. Some box-office watchers also assume that it could make another 100 million U.S. dollars for the weekend alone.

Meanwhile, U.S. leading movie ticketing destination Fandago claimed that on June 23 it has sold more than 2,000 tickets for the "Transformers 2" midnight and late night/early morning shows nationwide.

Featuring Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf on its cast ensemble, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was directed by Michael Bay. The story takes place two years after the event of the first film. It centers on Autobots which team up with certain group of American soldiers to fight against the Decepticons who are still hiding on earth.
