At an aftershow party, director Jon Favreau reportedly unveiled that 20th Century Fox have exercised their option on Emily Blunt, making her unavailable to star in 'Iron Man' sequel.

While many are still crossing their fingers to see Emily Blunt in "Iron Man 2" despite the recent possibility of her dropping the Black Widow part, director Jon Favreau reportedly hauled in the bad news. According to The Playlist, the 42-year-old director has claimed at an aftershow party that the Golden Globe-winning actress is officially out of the superhero sequel.
"On E!'s post show at the red carpet of some party, Jon Favreau said that Fox exercised its ['Gulliver's Travels'] option on Emily Blunt, and that she definitely won't be in 'Iron Man 2'," so read the report from The Playlist. Furthermore, the blog made note that though chatting about Blunt's possible exit, Favreau didn't give any hint on other potential candidates, including Scarlett Johansson.
In mid-January, Emily Blunt had been reported to be in talks to portray Black Widow. However, later that month, she was said to end up not playing the character due to conflicting shooting schedules and a contractual obligation with 20th Century Fox's remake of "Gulliver's Travels". Nonetheless, at the time it was reported that her reps are still working on the schedule so that she can take on roles in both movies.
On another "Iron Man 2" casting speculation, The Playlist also brought to the surface possibility of Mickey Rourke starring in the "Iron Man" sequel despite "The Wrestler" star's previous claim that he's not doing the sequel for now. The trade quoted their source who reported that Favreau stated "Mickey Rourke isn't officially cast but that he is a fan".
