Australian musician and actor Ben Lee has married actress Ione Skye in a traditional Hindu ceremony outside of the town of Chennai in India, his representative confirms to Life and Style. The nuptials, taking place on December 29, 2008, is the first for Ben and the second for Ione as she was previously married to Beastie Boys' Adam Horovitz.
Prior to dating Ione, Ben dated Claire Danes for several years. He and Ione got engaged on January 11 last year. According to Life and Style, he proposed to her "after taking a trip to India and consulting their guru, Sakthi Narayani Amma." The publication is told by an insider, "Ben flew to India to ask the guru if marrying Ione was the right thing. And he got the thumbs up!"
Ben and Ione's wedding "was beautiful!" the insider claims. "Lots of bright colors and chanting! Ione didn't want a traditional wedding. She has always been sort of edgy, so this definitely was her dream wedding! She's really happy to be spending her life with Ben. She truly believes that he's her soul mate." Close friends and family, including Ione's brother, actor-singer Donovan Leitch, were among the wedding guests.
