TV

English actor, Dominic Monaghan, will be a rock star again on NBC's action comedy series, 'Chuck'.

AceShowbiz -

"Lord of the Rings" actor, Dominic Monaghan, has signed a deal to be a guest star on NBC's "Chuck". He will play as the character of Tyler Martin for only a half episode on February 2, 2009.

Monaghan confessed that he is very grateful to work on the series which he said in an interview with EW's Ausiello, "I wanted to work with Josh Schwartz ('Chuck's creator). I've been wanting to be in business with him for a long time. He's a big fan of TV and gives it a lot of respect. It's the same reason I wanted to work on 'Lost'."

Previously, Monaghan has played a role on "Lost" as Charlie Pace, an ex-rock star with a drug addiction. This time in "Chuck", he will also play a role as an English rock star which is quite distinct from Charlie. As "Chuck" executive producer, Schwartz, said to Ausiello, "This is a very, very different kind of character, he's a lunatic in the best sense of the word. And there's no heroin."

The actor also gives a strong explanation about the differences between his Tyler on "Chuck" and Charlie on "Lost", saying "He is an English rock star, so obviously there are similarities [to Charlie]. But this is a comedic role. Charlie was not incredibly comedic on purpose. The guy that I play on Chuck is just an out-and-out lunatic." Then he assured, " I never want to play the same thing twice."

Monaghan's February 2 episode will air partly in 3-D, piggybacking on NBC's 3-D Super Bowl stunt. "Chuck" is an NBC's action comedy series which has been ordered for a full season by the network.
