Apparently, the earlier story about the possible problem faced by "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" in China isn't 100|percent| true. Putting an end to the speculation, Universal Pictures overseas as well as director Rob Cohen denied any problem on getting the rights to release the action fantasy movie in China.
Explaining on the condition, Bill Kong, producer and Universal's distributor in Hong Kong and China noted that the film has gotten its release permit stating, "We now have a certificate giving us permission to release the film in China and outside." He further revealed that the changes demanded by China's censors were minor so that it cannot be considered to be a cut. On the stronger tone over the matter, Cohen claimed that the story is not true. As quoted by Shock Till You Drop, he said, "We called Variety to clear this up, but they never took down the story."
On another news related to the movie, Bloody Disgusting reported that actor Luke Ford who depicted Rick O'Connell's son, Alex, has been signed for a total of three "Mummy" movies. It means that there maybe two more "Mummy" films coming out and with the rumored spin-off movie has been reported earlier, there is possibility that Ford's character will be the center of the story.
"Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" starring Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh is the third "Mummy" film. It will still follow daring adventurer Rick as he is dealing with resurrected mummy. Unlike in the first two movies where he is fighting off Egyptian high priest Imhotep, Rick will be facing with a new kind of mummy, a resurrected Han emperor. The tidbit will be available in theaters across the country on August 1.
