The second season American Idol champion married his fiancee Surata Zuri McCants at the Canterbury United Methodist Church in Mountain Brook, Ala., Saturday, June 28.

AceShowbiz - Ruben Studdard said "I Do." The American Idol season 2 winner married his fiancee Surata Zuri McCants at Canterbury United Methodist Church in his hometown of Birmingham, Ala., Saturday, June 28.

Ruben, as it's been reported earlier, had 20 groomsmen by his side. He and his groomsmen wore black Joseph Abboud tuxedos from local outfitter Mr. Burch Formal Wear. The groomsmen's shirts and vests were black, whereas Studdard had a white vest and a white bow tie.

The bride McCants wore a white and ivory Casablanca wedding gown. The pair swapped vows in front of over 300 guests.

Ruben met McCants in October 2006 at an in-store record signing event at an Atlanta-area Wal-Mart. "I was signing copies of my CD and she came in to get one signed for her friend who couldn't get off from work," the singer told The Birmingham News. "We started talking, and she was telling me about her friend. But I just looked at her and thought, 'She is so beautiful.'"

Struck by her beauty, he followed her to the store's toy department, and requested her phone number. "We developed a friendship, and about two months later we started dating," Ruben revealed further.

Ruben and McCants obtained a marriage license on Monday, June 23 at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham, Alabama. He's due to release his other music effort later this year.
