Ellen DeGeneres announced during the taping of her talk show that she's planning to wed Portia de Rossi as the California Supreme Court dropped the state's ban on gay marriage.

The talk show host announced publicly, during the taping of her "Ellen DeGeneres Show" Thursday night, May 15, her plan to wed longtime lesbian lover Portia de Rossi soon after telling the audience that the California Supreme Court has just turned down its ban on gay marriage.
Portia was among the audience on the show when Ellen surprised everyone with the announcement. The same-sex couple got a huge standing ovation from the audience over their wedding plans, TMZ reports.
The show which witnessed Ellen making the wedding announcement will be broadcast Friday, May 16. There have yet details on the wedding date and venue thus far.
Ellen and Portia have been together since 2004. They currently reside in Beverly Hills. In October 2006 they were reported to have been planning to tie the knot in June 2007. The much reported wedding never took place though.
