Julie Benz, the depicter of Rita Bennett in hit television drama series 'Dexter', has been reported to be tapped as the lead female character in the fifth installment of the horror thriller franchise.

The star of television drama series "Dexter" Julie Benz has reportedly nailed an important role in the latest installment of the Lions Gate Films' horror thriller franchise "Saw V". According to Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old actress has been tapped to star alongside Scott Patterson, Tobin Bell and Costas Mandylor.
It was further explained that the co-star of Sylvester Stallone in "Rambo" will be playing an elegant and proper British woman who becomes Jigsaw's latest victim. Benz is known for her role as Rita Bennett, the psychologically damaged girlfriend of serial killer Dexter Morgan in television drama series "Dexter", for which she won the 2006 Satellite Award's Supporting Actress in a Television Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture. She will next be seen in Lexi Alexander's "Punisher: War Zone".
Set to be released on October 24, 2008, the fifth installment of the horror film said to be focused on an investigative journalist who got involved with Jigsaw's game. Earlier, it was reported that the filming of the David Hackl-directed thriller will begin on March 11 in Toronto, Canada.
