The 'Erin Brockovich' star has signed to be the producer of a film adapted from Margot Berwin's upcoming novel 'Hothouse Flowers'.

AceShowbiz - The Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts is going to be the producer of an adaptation film "Untitled Julia Roberts Project". According to Hollywood Reporter, the "Erin Brockovich" star has signed on with Sony's Columbia Pictures for the position.

Aside from being the producer, she was said to be attached to the project as an actress as well. It was reported that the co-star of Richard Gere in romantic comedy "Runaway Bride" will portray a recently divorced woman who is dissatisfied with her job at a Manhattan ad agency and embarks on an adventure that takes her to places she never expected to go.

The film is supposedly adapted from Margot Berwin's upcoming novel "Hothouse Flowers", but it still has no script due to the on-going writers' strike. Aside from Roberts, it will also be produced by Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd.

This project won't be Roberts' first film producing project as she was the executive producer of "Stepmom" and "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl". Recently, Roberts can be seen in "Charlie Wilson's War" starring with Tom Hanks and Amy Adams. She has also finished filming for the indie family drama "Fireflies in the Garden". Next, she is expected to play in Tony Gilroy's thriller "Duplicity".
